Job Summary
Venn, RTV’s data arm, conducts surveys to monitor and evaluate RTV programs, informing program design, resource planning, and impact assessment. Part-time Data Collectors play a key role in fieldwork operations, collecting accurate data under the supervision of the RTV Venn team while following RTV’s ethical guidelines and procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Attend comprehensive training on evaluation procedures and digital data collection tools
- Participate in pretesting tools to confirm reliability and functionality before deployment
- Conduct informed consent processes with local leadership and survey participants before starting data collection
- Arrange and conduct interviews according to established guidelines and tools
- Implement the assigned work plan, meeting daily and overall targets
- Ensure all collected data is accurate, complete, and cleaned before submission
- Review data to verify accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Safeguard respondent confidentiality and follow secure data handling and storage protocols
- Maintain assigned data collection tools, including tablets, chargers, power banks, and bags, in good working condition
- Perform any additional job-related duties as assigned by lead RTV personnel
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in any field
- Previous experience in data collection and management is an added advantage
- Demonstrated proficiency in probing techniques during interviews and surveys
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting set targets
- Prior experience in research methods is an added advantage
- Proficiency in Excel and digital data collection tools, especially SurveyCTO and Survey123
- Preference given to residents of the stated district
Skills and Competencies
- Physical ability to travel extensively and work in remote, hard-to-reach areas, including long hours on foot
- Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to upholding data ethics and moral values in rural community settings
- Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain the organisation’s credibility within partner communities
- Fluency in English plus at least one of the following local languages: Ateso, Dhopadhola, Lugisu, Lumasaba, Runyoro, Rugungu, Rutooro, Runyankole, Luganda, Langi, Lugbara, Madi, Alur, Lusamya, Lusoga, Kinyarwanda, Sebei, Kupsabiny, Kiswahili, Acholi, Rukiga, or Lukonzo
