About the Organisation

The Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) is a shared service centre of the United Nations established in July 2010 following the adoption of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 64/269. Based in Entebbe, Uganda, RSCE provides efficient, client-focused, and scalable support services to United Nations field missions and other entities across Africa and beyond.

The Centre delivers services in human resources, finance, logistics, transport, information and communications technology, conference services, quality assurance, records management, and business intelligence, among others.

These positions are located within the Accounts Payable, Cashiers, and Internal Control Service Lines under the Financial Services and Compliance Monitoring Section. Successful candidates will report to the Team Lead of their respective service line.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Finance Assistant will support financial operations and compliance activities within the Regional Service Centre by:

• Processing payroll and non-payroll payments in accordance with established procedures.

• Reviewing, reconciling, and analyzing financial transactions and records.

• Maintaining accurate financial data within Umoja, SAP, or other Enterprise Resource Planning systems.

• Supporting accounts payable, cashiering, and internal control functions.

• Preparing financial reports and assisting in the monitoring of financial activities.

• Ensuring compliance with United Nations financial regulations, rules, and policies.

• Assisting with financial audits and responding to audit queries where necessary.

• Maintaining proper financial documentation and records.

• Supporting the implementation of financial controls and risk management measures.

• Performing any other finance and administrative duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Professional Qualifications

• A technical or vocational certificate in Finance, Accounting, Audit, or a related field is desirable.

Experience

• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, administrative services, or a related field is required.

• The minimum experience requirement is reduced to three years for candidates possessing a first-level university degree or higher.

• Experience processing a broad range of payroll and non-payroll payments, general ledger postings, financial reconciliations, and transaction analysis using SAP, Umoja, or similar ERP systems is required.

• Experience applying United Nations or similar international organization financial rules and regulations in an operational environment is desirable.

• Experience working within a shared service centre or similar setup is desirable.

• These positions are available on a temporary basis for a period of 364 days.
