About JCRC

The Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is an indigenous medical organization established in 1991 as a not-for-profit joint venture between the Uganda Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defence, and Makerere University College of Health Sciences.

JCRC supports health systems strengthening, research, and lifesaving HIV/TB interventions across Uganda.

Job Summary

The Data Clerk will work under the leadership of the Health Unit In-Charge or District Health Office, supporting the implementation of strong data management systems at health facilities.

The role focuses on ensuring timely, accurate, complete, and high-quality HIV/TB data for submission to MoH and PEPFAR systems, while maintaining strict data integrity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure completeness of patient files and facility registers
Generate and submit accurate data to MoH and PEPFAR systems
Update national EMR systems from paper records
Maintain systems including:
EMR
DHIS2
Prevention Tracker
eCBSS
YAPs MIS
PIRS
CQI tools
Manage hardcopy and electronic data files
Conduct data cleaning and validation
Support facility data quality assurance
Back up patient-level data securely
Train health workers on EMR and database usage
Update audit tools and support data-driven decision-making

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in:
Statistics
Quantitative Economics
Population Studies / Demography
Or another related field
Experience working with MoH and PEPFAR data systems
Practical experience with weekly audit tools
Good computer knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Good numeracy and multitasking ability
Ability to work under deadlines
