Job Overview
World Vision Uganda is seeking a Project Assistant – Mental Health to support implementation of Child Protection and Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programs in refugee and host communities in Adjumani.
The role focuses on strengthening community systems, supporting vulnerable children, and promoting psychosocial wellbeing through evidence-based interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Support delivery of MHPSS and child protection activities in communities
- Mobilize children, caregivers, and stakeholders for participation
- Facilitate integration of child protection, MHPSS, and social cohesion initiatives
- Conduct data collection, case management, and reporting
- Identify and support children with disabilities or psychological distress
Technical Support & Capacity Building
- Train and mentor community structures, volunteers, and children
- Facilitate sessions on positive parenting, child participation, and mental health
- Support monitoring, evaluation, and documentation of impact stories
- Ensure adherence to global child protection and MHPSS standards
🤝 Coordination & Partnerships
- Participate in coordination and cluster meetings
- Strengthen referrals for child protection and psychosocial services
- Collaborate with local leaders, NGOs, and partners
- Represent the organization in zonal and sector meetings
💰 Financial & Administrative Support
- Prepare activity budgets, requisitions, and accountability reports
- Submit timely financial and narrative reports
- Maintain proper documentation for audit compliance
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Psychotherapy, Community Psychology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in child protection and MHPSS programming
- Experience working in humanitarian or refugee settings is an added advantage
- Strong understanding of Sphere Standards and humanitarian frameworks
Key Skills & Requirements
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Strong documentation and reporting ability
- Ability to work in high-pressure and resource-limited environments
- Cultural sensitivity and emotional resilience
- Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding license (mandatory)
- Knowledge of Madi or Arabic is an added advantage
